‘Jazzflutespaceman' started as a tongue in cheek name for one of the recitals I did when I went back to College to study the flute. It kind of stuck and I subsequently used it as a band name and CD title for a project with Michael Ingvarson (long time band mate from Babba) Working out of Michaels 'Big Hand' studio and utilising his talents in recording and production we pushed each other to make the songs as rhythmically and sonically interesting as possible, marrying acoustic instruments with loops and electronica and of course some 70's jazz flute stylings. We dubbed it ‘retro futuristic' (which I’ve heard a few times since). Working every Wednesday afternoon we took three years to finish the recording which usually included a delicious lunch of soup provided by Michaels mum (Rock and Roll !). I loved the process and the resulting album and would wholeheartedly invite you to download it and have a jolly good listen.
